Producer/Director (PDF)

Working with the Director of Production, this person oversees and completes various local production projects. This person’s work ultimately affects the station’s on-air look and the community’s perception of its professionalism and artistic contribution.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least a two-year college degree in communications with a television production emphasis. Specific experience may be substituted for education as deemed appropriate by the General Manager or hiring committee.
• At least one (1) year professional television production experience including multi-camera directing, studio/field videography, linear and non-linear editing, and graphics.
• Possess supervisory leadership skills.
• Demonstrable ability to effectively communicate orally and written.
• Demonstrable ability to operate computers, including non-linear editing and Microsoft office applications.
• At least a four-year college degree in communications with a television production emphasis.
• Production experience in a public television environment.

This position reports to the Director of Production. This person provides leadership to production personnel regarding assigned projects.

Duties may include and are not limited to:
• Perform as Audio Technician on the majority of studio and/or field production projects.
  1. Responsible for creative gathering of 5.1 audio in various production venues.
  2. Supervise the correct set-up/tear-down of various audio equipment.
  3. Responsible for the hiring, instruction, supervision and scheduling of audio assistants.
  4. Coordinate with engineering for necessary support.
• In the absence of the Director of Production perform as Producer-Director on production projects.
  1. Responsible for all elements of the assigned production.
  2. Oversee the correct set-up/tear-down of studio and/or field equipment.
  3. Make crew assignments for that particular production.
  4. Call the video and audio mix of the production (act as TD if not assigned).
  5. Coordinate with engineering for necessary support.
• Perform unsupervised as a field videographer/camera operator on assigned production projects.
• Perform unsupervised as an editor on assigned production projects.
• Perform other production duties as requested or assigned.
• Assist with studio preparation and set construction for production projects.
• Assist with site surveys for production projects.
• Assist with fund raising and development as requested or assigned.
• Assist with station operation, activities and events as requested or assigned.
